Gaza Mattress (£55)

Donate to provide a single mattress in Gaza—so a displaced person doesn’t have to sleep on cold, wet ground as storms continue. A mattress is a simple item, but in these conditions it can be lifesaving: it keeps people off cold, wet ground, reduces heat loss at night, and helps children and adults sleep with less exposure to damp and cold.

Right now, many displaced families in Gaza are sleeping in tents or makeshift shelters that leak, flood, or collapse in heavy rain and strong winds. Winter storms are flooding displacement sites and destroying shelters, leaving families exposed to cold nights and soaked ground. OCHA reports severe weather recently impacted hundreds of displacement sites and damaged thousands of tents, while storm-related deaths this winter include children who died from hypothermia.

A single mattress gives immediate protection by lifting someone off the wet floor, helping them retain warmth and rest more safely—especially for children, the elderly, and anyone unwell. UNICEF has warned that winter conditions increase the risk of hypothermia and respiratory infections for children in Gaza.
